Ordered My New Journaling Bible Today

Last Sunday I gave Eric's grandmother my personal Bible for her 93rd birthday. She told me that she wasn't a "bible" person, but I know she was raised Mormon so perhaps she was exposed to the teachings of Jesus in her youth. I know she's visited the temple in Utah so she must be following her faith a little. I don't know if she only reads the Book of Mormon.

Anyway to make a long story short, she thumbed through quite a few pages and was very touched by the gift. I am hoping that by looking at my artwork she will delve more into the Word, which can only comfort her as she is coming into the twilight of her years.

Eric told me to go ahead and buy a new Bible so I ordered one. I got this one off of Amazon when I saw that the plain aqua covered Inspire Journaling Bible (and all the other cover versions they had available) were being offered at $917.00 or more. You have got to be kidding me!

So I found this one and ordered it instead. This is what it looks like...

It's very pretty and I love the color, but unfortunately is only in KJV text. I didn't realize this until AFTER I'd ordered it and read a review several pages later. I really like the artwork in it though. So I will probably just use my other plain Jane Bible for Sunday services, study and reflection. I just can't wrap my head around the archaic language in KJV. I can't understand why they'd use that version for such a beautiful book with the new concept of artistic journaling. Oh well, I will make do with it. I'm more interested in drawing and coloring in it than the language. Who knows I might get a wider understanding of the Word from an older interpretation.

I really like how the side binding has all the beautiful roses on it.

3:58pm - UPDATE!

After reconsidering that I would only be able to draw in the first book I purchased from Amazon and I wouldn't be able to use it for study or Sunday services I had second thoughts so I quickly did a Google search for and Inspire Journaling Bible and found one here:   Christian Book Website. So I quickly went back to Amazon and cancelled my order. I told the rep there of the ridiculous price they were asking for their Inspire Bibles and after I bought this book I went back to their website and they had dropped the price to $34.00.

At Christian Books I was able to find the exact one I really wanted! I got mine for $28.00 so I didn't feel so bad that I had to pay $5.99 in shipping charges. I would have had to pay that anyway had I ordered from Amazon because in order to get free shipping you have to buy $35 worth of stuff AND they didn't have the Bible with this lovely cover, so I am pleased with the way things turned out. I should get it next week too. Amazon's books were back ordered for several weeks. Another reason I'm happy with this Bible is that this is an NLT version which I prefer.

The cover is so beautiful that I won't be buying a Bible cover. I've never seen anything like this on a Bible. It's absolutely gorgeous and it has my favorite bird from I lived in Angelus Oaks...the chickadee. The butterfly has always symbolized metamorphoses and new life and growth which is so appropriate for a Bible, don't you think?

Below is the back cover. I thought you might like to read what it says about the book.

Here's a blank margin suitable for adding your own artwork or notes.

Christianbook.com has a lot of great deals for other Christian items as well so I bookmarked it and will return at a later date to buy more books. The gentleman who helped me place my order on the phone was so cordial and informed and even though I bounced around to several items on different pages he didn't mind the time I took. After doing a search on their site (while he was waiting no less) I found this bible which was less than the other exact Bibles they had because it has some slight imperfections which might be small scratches on the cover, but he assured me they were usually very difficult to see. He was also honest with me when he told me that some times the corners might be a little dented, but from his experience this was rare. However, the books did have small flaws so they couldn't be sold at full price which was about $38.00. After considering what he said I went ahead and ordered the imperfect Bible. Knowing me mine will get a little beat up from use anyway. You should have seen my other one. The total cost, which included the shipping was $34.48.

I checked out Prismacolor pencils but they are pretty expensive, however, I've see what they can do so they went on my Amazon wish list. The largest set is $94.00 but I think that's like 103 pencils so that's a pretty good deal when you figure that I paid about $2.00 a piece for my Derwent Watercolor ones.

Anyway, I believe I will have plenty of pages to duplicate the art I had done in my other Bible. I'm so excited to get it. I can't wait!!! It will ship on Tuesday.
